Narconon Graduate:  Helping Others Achieve Success!

R’s Story

Narconon drug information

This is a testimonial about Narconon’s success for one woman. We will call her R to protect her identity.

R was born to a very young mother who had two other children. Her mom was very inexperienced and was in over her head raising three kids. When R was three years of age her mom and her dad got a divorce. She was the oldest and as she got older more and more of the house hold responsibilities fell into her lap. Her grandparents were well off and supported the family financially because R’s mom refused to get a job. If they had not done this, the children probably would have been split up between foster homes. As it was it was R’s responsibility to make sure everything else for the other kids and herself was taken care of.

Tough Growing Up

Meanwhile R’s mom drank a lot and left the kids alone to go out and party. She got married and divorced three times and a few of those marriages were abusive. R saw her mother get beaten in front of her. That was not the only traumatic event that occurred in R’s life either. Two of her uncles got killed within a few years of each other, one got shot in the face, the other was involved in a fatal car accident. Then to make matters, worse R’s grandparents cut off all funding for the family when R was twelve.

To keep her family together, R quit school and found a job. She had a number of various jobs as a young girl to support her family. She worked in the drive in theater, worked as a waitress at a number of restaurants among other things. The responsibility was very stressful for one who was so young.

Early Drug Use

When R was fourteen she was introduced to marijuana and alcohol. Getting high gave her relief from the pressure of supporting her family at such a young age. After she got a taste of the party life, her need to get high escalated. She started experimenting with any drugs she could get her hands on. By the time she was fourteen she had moved on to shooting drugs intravenously. She started off shooting cat tranquilizers, then moved to pcp, then speed, then meth, then heroin and delaudids. She continued to use in this pattern until she was nineteen.

Drug Related Crime

When R was nineteen she got arrested for forging prescriptions. She went to jail for a year and a half. When she got out, she attempted to get help at various rehabs. None seemed to work for her at the time. She would go to a rehab and get clean for a while, get out and start using again. This all changed when she was twenty-three.

Traditional Rehab

R had been going to traditional twelve step rehabs and eventually it seemed to finally click with her. She got clean and sober and decided to repair the damage that was done to her life from her drug addiction. She decided to go back to school and earn her degree. She did well at school and when she graduated she went into business for herself.

R opened up her own advertising company. Advertising is a very lucrative business and R seemed to take to it like a duck to water. She did so well with her business that it eventually got to be the third most successful agency in its class in the world. R bought herself a beautiful home, had a beautiful car, and was able to afford the finer things that money can buy. She did very well for herself and continued to remain drug free for a long time.

 Relapse

R was very involved with AA and would go to meetings daily. She worked very hard at following the steps and was very successful in her AA group. She was able to stay sober from the time she was twenty three until the time she was thirty one. Unfortunately, when everything else was going well in her life she got involved with the wrong love interest. She fell deeply in love with a man who was womanizer. When she found out that he had been cheating on her she could not handle the stress. The life that she had worked so hard to get to began to fall down around her. She relapsed and she relapsed hard. She lost her business, her money, her home.

After a while of using pretty hard core, R started going in and out of rehabs once again. This time she just could not seem to get her head together. She would try to get better in one rehab, just to come out again to get high. This went on from the time she was thirty-one until the time she was thirty-eight.

 Non-12 Step Rehab

One day her mom approached her and told R that she had come across a program on the internet that she thought would work for R. Her mom pleaded with her to check herself in, just give it one more try. R said to her mom “Why would I want to go to this rehab? It isn’t going to work.” Her mom eventually convinced her to go. The rehab was Narconon.

Narconon Success

Narconon was exactly what R had been looking for. Instead of telling her she was powerless against her addiction, it helped her to get the power over her life that she needed to live in a productive manner. It gave her the tools to cope with life, ones that replaced the drugs she had been using to do so.

R graduated the Narconon program eleven years ago. She went on to become one of the most successful Intake Counselors in the history of Narconon. She has helped thousands of families get their loves ones into the Narconon program and continues to do so to this day, explaining Narconon drug information and helping them arrive. She is married to a man who is totally in love with her and they live with their dogs in the country. She finally has peace in her life and is living the life she has always needed and wanted.
