Alcohol Pregnancy

Alcohol Pregnancy

No woman who is pregnant should drink – period.   No matter the age, every pregnant woman has a responsibility to ensure that their unborn child has the best shot at life.  Being exposed to alcohol in the womb is damaging to the baby.  The alcohol ingestion is beyond the choice of the baby, but not the mother.

Any pregnant mother with an alcohol abuse problem or drug addiction should be mandated into drug addiction treatment.  Society has the right to demand that there not be needless medical costs and personal damage because of someone’s irresponsibility.

“Women who get pregnant later in life are at higher risk of having children with birth defects in general, and those over age 30 who binge on alcohol are more likely to have babies who suffer from Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), HealthDay News reported July 21.”
