We know the story all too well without another movie coming out.  Gwyneth Paltrow is playing an alcoholic singer in her new movie and got some help from Robert Downey to learn about the mindset of an addict.   While this is somewhat interesting, it is far from novel and in this society has become a somewhat redundant story.  Drug addicts and alcoholics aren’t really that intriguing.  They stumble around, make life hell for their families and set a bad example for the rest of the world.

We all watched Charlie Sheen, because he was there to watch.  It wasn’t a new story – we just didn’t know if was going to end with an ambulance like many of these Hollywood stories do.   With so many families having to deal with addiction in their own lives, the drug factor is hard to escape unless they watch Nick at Night.

Whether it be an alcoholic or heroin addict – it’s old news.    A story about a family that isn’t suffering from drug abuse or losing their house because of the recession would be novel.  They could be involved in some pretty interesting things – like bringing some good and joy to this world.

“Gwyneth Paltrow says Iron Man star Robert Downey, who has over his battle with drug addiction, helped her to better understand her role as an alcoholic singer in new movie Country Strong.

The 38-year-old actress, who plays the character of an alcoholic singer Kelly Canter in her forthcoming film had emailed Downey , 45, to seek advice to get into the mindset of an addict, reported Contactmusic.

“I actually emailed Robert Downey Jr, who has been sober for a long time, and asked him to explain addiction to me and he wrote me the most amazing email and it really helped me understand it,” said the actress.

Paltrow, who is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, says she has never experimented with drugs herself but enjoys an alcoholic tipple every now and again. “Yeah, I do drink. I really enjoy red wine the most. But I like going to British pubs and having the odd pint of Guinness, too. But other than that I drink white wine and rose. And on a night out a good vodka Martini is always a good choice. So, yes, I do have a drink!” added the Shakespeare in Love star.”
