In addition to making sure that they know what their child is up to, it is also very important that parents speak with their children about drugs. This discussion needs to be carried out in

a non-threatening and non-judgmental way. Parents need to be able to be honest with their children about drugs and alcohol and tell them the risks that are associated with these substances, in a way that the child can understand. It is important that a child be able to get information at home from people they trust. When a kid goes to school, they are going to hear rumors about many things, including drugs. If a parent has not already discussed these situations with their children, their child will be more susceptible to peer pressure. The Narconon Drug Rehabilitation program has a very successful drug education program that is designed to get kids to listen to accurate information. Parents should feel free to call Narconon to get advice on how to talk to their kids about drugs and ask for additional resources and booklets.

These designer drugs are especially scary because they are so new to the scene. There has not been an ample amount of time for people to discover the long term effects. The designer drug “Spice”, for example, is certainly a frightening substitute for marijuana; however, there are other designer drugs out there that may be even worse.

Bath Salt

Another chilling situation is the one concerning the new line of drugs that are being labeled and sold as bath salts or plant food. It is a line of drugs that are being made to mimic the effects of several different “club drugs”. The effects of these drugs last much longer than the drugs they are made to mimic. There have been cases of people taking one small dose and not being able to sleep or eat for three or four days. People have become very dehydrated and emaciated on these drugs, because they are no longer able to recognize their bodies need for food, drink or sleep.

Some people are getting addicted to these drugs and using them for a very long period of time. The effects of bath salt apparently mimic the effects of methamphetamine and cocaine in the sense that they stimulate a person and give them a feeling of increased energy that would not be there otherwise.

In addition to these stimulating effects, they can also cause a person to hallucinate. This is probably due to the fact that a person does not eat or drink properly while on this drug, often for days at a time. Methamphetamine can also cause a person to hallucinate for the same reasons. Actually if a person just tried to stay awake for as long as possible without eating, they would probably begin to see things as well. They would just not have the false sense of energy that people feel while using stimulants.

I Quit Using Months Ago, But Why are People Still Following Me?

Many people who use bath salt, like methamphetamine, become very paranoid and see and hear things that are not there. They sometimes perceive situations in a manner different from what is actually occuring, because they are not able to see reality clearly. Some people have used so much of these drugs that their vision can become altered and they can have full blown hallucinations, such as seeing and talking to people that are not there. In some cases they can perceive normal people as demons or monsters and treat them as such. There have been instances where someone was inebriated on “bath salt” and they actually attacked police officers thinking they were devils or demons out to get them.

The really scary thing about these hallucinations is the fact that after a person quits using these “bath salts”, they can continue to believe the delusions that they had while they were on the drugs and can continue to hallucinate. It is not known if these effects will eventually wear off or not. There have been cases where people continued to see things that were not there for many months after they quit using the bath salts.

Narconon

There have been people who have done the Narconon program that have been addicted to these drugs that had very good results. Some of these people suffered from constant hallucinations for a long time after they quit using and found that they did go away after the person did the Narconon New Life Detoxification Program.

Narconon Drug Rehabilitation has two separate phases. The first phase deals with the physical aspect of addiction and is designed to help a person get over some of the seemingly permanent detrimental effects that drugs had on their body and their mind. This is done through a natural regimen of vitamins and minerals, exercise and sweating in a dry heat sauna. This process is designed to help the body rid itself of drug metabolites and other toxins that can be stored in the fatty tissue. The people who came to the Narconon program that had been addicted the new bath salt drug said that once they finished the Narconon New Life Detoxification Program their hallucinations disappeared. They also said that they no longer had the thoughts of paranoia where people were plotting against them.

What was not handled by the first phase of the program was often found to be handled by the second phase. The second phase consists of a series of life improvement courses that helps a person understand why they became addicted to drugs in the first place. It also helps a person learn the life skills that are needed to function as a productive member in society, sober. They then address the damage that was done to all areas of their lives and come up with a life plan that includes repairing the damage done to these areas.

If you or a loved one is struggling from addiction to any of these drugs, feel free to call the Narconon nearest you for a free assessment.
