In this day and age parents don’t have to worry so much about their kids using illegal drugs as much as they did twenty years ago. Now parents have to worry about their kids using legal ones. For some, this may not seem like such a scary situation. Drugs that are legal can’t be as dangerous as the ones that are illegal right? Wrong. The way that kids are using these drugs are often in a very dangerous manner. Most of the drugs that kids use these days are prescription medications and over the counter medications as well. The problem is that the kids often do not know the proper dosage of the medications, or if they do know the dosing information they may disregard it because they feel that because they are medicines, it does not matter how much they take, they will be safe.

Pharm Parties

There is a new type of party that kids go to these days. They are called pharm parties and they are a form of Russian roulette. The tradition of these parties is that each person that attends goes to their medicine cabinet and finds as many different types of medicines that could potentially get someone high. This could range from different cold medicines, anti-depressants, to prescription pain medications and valium. The kids call gathering the medication pharming. Everyone brings all the medications that they could find and they are then dumped into a bowl or a bucket or some other vessel and mixed all together. The kids then have a large collection of random pills without labels, without directions. After the kids mix them together then everybody gets to grab a handful of a few pills. The person often has no idea what kind of pills they are taking and what kind interactions that they may have with each other. The kids then take them and have no idea what kind experience they are in for.

Some kids probably get a pretty nice buzz. Some kids probably do not get high but may feel a little sickish. There are some kids that have overdosed from doing this and have died. The fact that this practice is becoming more and more popular is very alarming and really needs to be a wake up call to parents that the youth of America needs more in the way of drug education. It is quite shocking that these kids do not have the sense to consider that what they are doing is definitely a bad idea.

Designer Drugs

There is also another danger in the way of current drug trends. In this article Narconon reviews designer drugs as well. Designer drugs are drugs that are manufactured by a chemist in a lab some where. These drugs are often made to mimic the effects of other drugs. In some cases the chemical make-up is very similar to whatever drug the designer drug is supposed to be like, in other cases the chemistry is different but the effects are similar. Designer drugs were originally created to effect people the same way other illegal drugs would. These drugs were not illegal however because their chemical make-up was different and not outlawed.

At present, there are two main different designer drugs that are receiving a lot of attention and are used by many. The first one is an herbal blend that is sprayed with synthetic cannabinoids and is supposed to cause a feeling of euphoria that is similar to the one that is brought about by marijuana. In some ways the feelings that one gets from this drug is similar when the drug is used in small amounts. However the effects that one can get are often unpredictable because the amount of the solution that is sprayed on each batch varies. Also the amount of one chemical or another that is sprayed on each batch is unpredictable as well. There have been quite a few cases of people ending up in the emergency room from using synthetic marijuana because they started hallucinating or had arrested breathing, became delusional, or felt like they were going to die. A few people did suffer from cardiac arrest and their hearts had to be restarted by a defibrillator. The doctors and the parents had no way to know what was happening unless the teen confessed to using synthetic marijuana or Spice as it is called, because the there is no drug test that tests for it that is currently on the market because the drug has been out for so long and there are so many different chemicals that are used in each batch and because no subject has ever consented to having their urine or blood studied for the drug as of yet.

The other line of designer drugs that are popular are sold as bath salts or plant food. Most of the drugs in this line mimic the effects of cocaine or methamphetamine. They are very addictive and can have horrible side effects. People have been known to stay up for days on these drugs and have delusions and hallucinations while under the influence of them. There have been quite a few cases of people staying on the drugs for months at a time and getting to the point where they are constantly delusional and experiencing hallucinations. In many of these circumstances the people have tried to quit only to find that they still suffer hallucinations even after they have been off of the drug for long periods of time.

A few of these people have contacted Narconon International or a local Narconon center and attended the program. It has been found that when the person does the Narconon New Life Detoxification program and finished it, they no longer suffered from the hallucinations. It can only be assumed that the reason that people continue to suffer hallucinations from the drugs after they stop using them is because the drug metabolites are not quickly flushed out of the system and since Narconon’s detoxification programs aim is to help the body rid itself of these toxins and metabolites that is why it helps.

Parents need to be aware of these new dangerous drugs and drug combinations so that they can give their children the correct and needed information in regards to them. The fact that many parents are unaware of what is going on explains why kids are not given the proper warnings in regard to these dangerous and sometimes lethal combinations. Something needs to be done about this problem before it turns into an epidemic.

Drug education in this country has gone through many different phases. In some of the first anti-drug movements, educators and officials used drastic scare tactics to keep kids from trying drugs. The main problem with this method was that some of the information that officials gave to the youth of America was false. Kids would later find that “facts” were embellished and exaggerated and go on to dismiss all the information that had been presented to them about drugs. They would sometimes even dismiss information about some drugs that really were very dangerous to use.

The next phase in drug education was quite a bit more apathetic. Public officials gave up trying to deter kids from using drugs since they felt their other efforts had been futile. They decided that the best thing to do was to give kids information on how to use drugs in “safe’ way since they felt that they were unable to stop them from using them. They felt that the next best thing was to stop kids from killing themselves while using drugs.

Although there may have been some cases where kids were prevented from killing themselves from using drugs, this method was not very good for public morale. Even if a person is using drugs is a way that may not kill them, they are still setting themselves up for addiction to these drugs. Addiction is very devastating even if the person who is addicted is not dead. Addiction changes a person’s personality into something that they are not. People who become addicted to drugs often become anti-social and their priorities change drastically. People who are addicted can get to the point where they are willing to do anything to get their next fix and they no longer care about their priorities in life. This can be very devastating to those people that are around them that care about them. Many families have felt the loss of a loved one who was at one time a good caring person, but turned into a drug obsessed desperate individual.

Once it was seen that this method was not really helping people overall, there was an opening for a different type of educational method. Narconon schools and parents saw that the new method needed to be different than any other one that had been tried before.

Narconon Drug Education

Narconon has one of the most successful drug education techniques in the world. Narconon presents the actual facts about drugs to kids in a way that they can relate to. The truth about drugs is scary enough that facts really do not need to be embellished to get through to kids that using drugs are not a good idea. Narconon has found that if one presents the serious facts about drugs in a humorous light and in social situations, kids actually take the information more seriously and decide from the information that is presented that they do not want to use drugs. Narconon does not use guilt tactics to try to make kids feel like they will be less than human if they have an interest in drug use. Narconon approaches the problem from a social angle instead, which is one that most kids who are at the age where they are going to be first exposed to drugs can relate to the most. Narconon drug education presenters also talk about the main reason that a lot of kids start using drugs is often because they feel uncomfortable in social situations and many times drugs can give them a false sense of bravado so they don’t feel as nervous in front of their peers. The presenter also goes on to explain that the good feeling that a person gets from using drugs is temporary and accomplishing long term goals will make a person feel as good and the feeling is not temporary.

Narconon drug education also goes over the dangers and risks involved with using drugs, but only the real facts are presented so that there is never any information that can later be disputed or disregarded.

Narconon Drug Education Today

Narconon as one of the leaders of drug education, stays up to date with the current drug trends in America so that their information is always valid. This is very helpful since the kind of drugs that are popular vary from year to year. Narconon discusses the risks and ill effects of all drugs, legal and illegal. Not many other drug educations programs do that and that is very unfortunate because as of late there has been a dramatic increase in the amount of prescription drugs that are being abused by our youth. There are many kids who have been ill effected by the fact that this not known by majority of the people who are in charge of distributing information to kids about drugs. Some kids do not even know that what they are doing is dangerous because they feel that prescription drugs are medicine and safe. They do not do the proper research because they do not understand that there are serious risks that are involved with using these drugs without the supervision of a doctor.

There are some parents whose children have died from overdosing on prescription medication and they did not even know that their child had used drugs. Kids have been given so much information on the dangers of drugs that are illegal and bought off the street that the use of illegal drugs is down in America today. The kids are using prescription medications or designer drugs instead. All drug education programs need to become aware of what drugs are actually being used currently so that they are better prepared to give accurate and up to date information to our kids.

Narconon ensures that information that is presented in drug education lectures is current and up to date with the times. Narconon is very effective at achieving its main three goals in regards to drug education. These goals are:

Convince kids that are using drugs to stop, or seek treatment if they need help to stop

Convince kids who have not tried drugs, but are not certain how they feel about the issue to make a firm decision to not use drugs is the future.

Give kids who already made the decision that they do not want to use drugs the positive re-enforcement to stick to that decision with confidence.

Narconon drug education lectures are available for schools as well as for businesses. Contact your local Narconon center for more information today.

Many of these kids are the ones that have trouble concentrating in class, get bored easily and often are very intelligent. The list of symptoms that diagnosis a child with ADD/ADHD is very similar to the list of symptoms that declare a child is gifted or has a high IQ. Look it up, they are almost identical. There are few reasons why there are so many kids that are given this diagnosis every year. First of all, most of these kids are very intelligent and they grasp concepts that they are given to study in school much more quickly than many of their peers. Once they grasp these subjects they are often inclined to become bored. Many of them are very creative and they can become disruptive and distract their classmates because they are bored and don’t have some type of positive outlet to release their creative energy. This can be very frustrating for many teachers who often have many other students to help and do not have the energy to deal with the antics of bored creative kids.

Parents may also become frustrated with these types of children because they do not have the energy to handle them after spending a long day at work trying to provide for their family. They go to their doctors at the recommendation of the school and the doctor gives them a quick fix answer that explains it all. The child cannot help it, the have ADD/ADHD and medication may be a good option for them.

Financial Gain

There are also some reasons for these diagnosis that are bit more menacing. For every child that is labeled with ADD/ADHD and medicated for it, a public school will receive more funding. For every parent who receives social financial benefits for their families that has a child that is medicated for ADD/ADHD or some other disorder they also receive more money. Most of these parents do not realize what they are doing to their child in exchange for extra money. Most of them probably feel that their child genuinely needs the help from a doctor and the medication that is prescribed and feel that the money that is given to them is going to benefit their whole family including the child that has the diagnosis.

The problem with many of these medications or study drugs is that they are dangerous. Most study drugs are stimulants and have the side effects of such. The side effects of long term stimulant use and abuse in children can cause the following symptoms:

Restriction of proper growth

Lack of appetite

Anorexia

Delayed puberty in some

Vasoconstriction

Excessive stress to the cardiovascular system

Heart enlargement

Addiction

Stroke

Heart attack

Death

Increased risk for addiction to stimulants later in adult life

Most of the side effects of these study medications are not openly talked about at the doctor’s offices. Most doctors feel that the benefits outweigh the risks, for themselves and their patients. The fact that they have the drug companies giving them all types of incentives to give out their drugs can be pretty effective motivation as well. The company that puts out the most literature and information in regards to ADD/ADHD and treatment options for these disorders is given large amounts of their annual funding from different drug companies.

Most parents would not put their child on these drugs if they knew the risks that were involved in doing so. They also would probably not put their children on these medications if they knew that their were other effective treatments for these kids that were not dangerous. The problem is that the drug companies have so much money that they make it one of the best apparent options for kids who supposedly are suffering ADD/ADHD.

Addiction

It has been shown that kids who are put ADD/ADHD medication run a higher risk to addiction stimulants in their adult life. Because they are used to operating in life on a stimulant and then eventually their medication is no longer prescribed to them, they look for the stimulated feeling through other means. This can mean that they buy these types of medications illegally on the street, or in some cases start using illegal drugs that act the same way.

When a child or adult comes off of these medications, they may suffer from withdrawal or addictive behavior. They may need to go to a rehab center for addiction counseling to overcome some of these issues. A Narconon rehab center is a very good option for these individuals because at Narconon the person will address their physical dependency on the drug as well as learn the life coping skills that they need to function without these study drugs anymore.

The self cognitive courses that a person takes while attending Narconon are a very good fit for someone coming off of study drugs. They will learn how to communicate and concentrate as well as learn a very successful study method. They will learn the reasons why they had trouble concentrating in school and the solutions to overcome them. They will learn how really study information so that they understand and can assimilate it instead of just memorizing facts so that they can pass a test. They also learn how to calm themselves down so that they are more able to concentrate and focus. When they learn these skills they will find that they no longer have as great a need for the medications that they were so dependent on just to get through a class or test. They find that they actually can do better on their own. For a kid that has been told most of their life that they have something wrong with them, this can be a real boost to their self esteem. The Narconon program has a seventy-six percent success rate for all people who graduate the program.

This is the fifth part of an article about a new addiction that is becoming rampant throughout the world. This new addiction is to a line of designer drugs that are labeled as “bath salts” or “plant food” and sold legally in many different locations. There are many dangers and risks associated with these new drugs, however the long term effects on the users are not yet know as these drugs are so new. In this article we are currently discussing a man we are calling Tommy who became addicted to these new drugs. This is the story of his addiction and how he battled it at Narconon Drug Rehab and how he is doing now.

Tommy Goes Out of State to Find Bath Salts

Because the sale of bath salts soon became illegal in the state of Florida, Tommy and his girlfriend soon started driving to Georgia to buy them. One of Tommy’s sons lived in Georgia had become an adult. Tommy soon found out that his oldest son was using bath salts as well. When Tommy would come to Georgia to get a fresh supply of the bath salts, he and his son would sometimes use them together, along with his son’s girlfriend.

After a while, Tommy was using so much of the bath salts that he would have to drive to Georgia every other week to every week.
At this point Tommy was rarely ever sleeping. The only time he would ever sleep would be when he had run out of the drug and was unable to acquire more right away. Tommy began to become paranoid. He started suspecting that someone was hacking into his computer. He was starting to have suspicions that one of his neighbors was up to something and plotting against him. Tommy was also having hallucinations.

Tommy Loses Job and His Girlfriend

Tommy became very strung out on the bath salts in a very short amount of time. It got to the point where he was unable to keep his job because he started missing work and when he did go, he was unable to perform his duties to a satisfactory level. Tommy also began to have fights with his girlfriend on an every day basis. It was not long before she decided that she wanted to move out and not see Tommy in a romantic way. He was just getting too paranoid on this new drug. His girlfriend did not seem to suffer from paranoia as much as he did, but then again she was able to fall asleep everyday because of her thyroid condition. Tommy began to drive her crazy with all of his paranoid ranting about his neighbor.

His girlfriend would use the stuff and fall asleep within a couple of hours after using. Because Tommy did not, and perhaps because of certain compounds that the bath salt was made out of, Tommy did not sleep hardly ever. He lost about sixty pounds, and Tommy was not a vey large man to begin with. Because he was not sleeping or eating, Tommy’s hallucinations began to get much worse. In addition to thinking that someone had hacked into his computer, Tommy also began to think that people were trying to break into his home.

Tommy’s Bath Salt Psychosis Reaches Dangerous Proportions

It got to the point that Tommy not longer had any kind of grasp on reality. Some days when Tommy was driving down the street, he would think that he saw a car just stopped on the highway. Tommy would pull to stop as to avoid an accident and he said that right at the time he would come to the car that was stopped in the road, it was would suddenly just disappear. This helped Tommy figure out that he was hallucinating. This got to be such a common occurrence for Tommy that he said he finally just stopped slowing down and would just keep going at full speed through his hallucinations.

Tommy also said that one day he was driving down the street and he saw a mother with her children walking down the middle of the road. He said that she was also was pushing a baby carriage. He said that he slowed down and tried to stop before he ran into the mother with her kids. He said that he was unable to stop quickly enough and right at the point where his car would have hit her, she and her kids just disappeared. He figured out that he had been hallucinating again.

Tommy Begins to Fight with Phantom People

Tommy’s computer began to act strangely according to him. Most of his friends say it was probably due to a virus. However, Tommy was convinced that one of his neighbors had taken over it and would do different things to the computer while Tommy was trying to use it. Tommy began to get really angry and began to suspect that one of his neighbors, who was an elderly man, was trying to mess with him

Tommy then began to think that other neighbors of his were trying to break into his house and starts fist fights and knife fights with him. One night Tommy was sitting on his couch looking at picture that was hanging on the wall. Tommy had not been asleep for fourteen days and it was wearing on him. He noticed that the picture kept sliding down the wall. He wondered how this could keep happening. He then figured out that it was not the fact that the picture was sliding down the wall, it was that his floor was moving up. There were people who were trying to get into his house from under the floor. Apparently then the people did get in and Tommy spent all night fighting them with a knife. The next day Tommy called the cops to tell them what happened. He told them to check under his trailer, because he was sure that one of them was still under there. He also wanted to know how the people had pushed up his floor. The cops looked under his trailer but found no evidence of anyone trying to break into Tommy’s house, nor was there any person underneath his trailer. The whole incident had been one big hallucination.

Continued in part six

This is part four of an article about the new addiction people are suffering from to a new line of designer drugs. These drugs can be bought legally in different locations because they are labeled as “bath salts” or “plant food”. There are also labels on the products that state that they are not for human consumption. But people using them know that they are really drugs and they use them as such. Addiction to these designer drugs can be very serious and can result in severe psychosis as well as other physical injuries. The long term effects of these drugs are not known yet because they are so new to the market. In the rest of this article we will be discussing a man we are calling Tommy who became addicted to these “bath salts.” Tommy has a history of addiction and we will be discussing that along with how he found Narconon Rehab and fought his addiction and how he is doing today.

Tommy New Friends Used Drugs

Once Tommy got his new job at the factory, he began to hang out with some of the other people who worked there. They really liked to party and pretty soon Tommy was partying with them. He did not start drinking again, he knew he could not do that, but he would do any other kind of drug that would come his way. Most of the time he would keep it at marijuana, but sometimes his friends would have other harder drugs that Tommy would do as well.

After working at the factory for a while, Tommy started dating one of the girls that he partied with. She was around thirty one or two, ten years Tommy’s junior. She had a thyroid disorder that she suffered from that made her really tired and she liked to use different stimulants to give her energy.

She and Tommy would get high together all the time. Most of the time they just used marijuana, but as stated before, when they could get other stuff they would. Tommy and she got along really well and before long they decided to move in together.

Tommy’s new girl friend moved into his trailer. They decided that she would keep her place as well and the two went back and forth between the two houses. Tommy really started to fall for his new girl friend. The next time he went home to visit his children and friends, he brought his new girl friend with him. Some of his friends said that when he came home he looked like a totally different person. It was said that he smoked pot all hours of the day and he was always thinking of where he was going to get more. They said that he and his new girlfriend seemed happy together, but they also said that they seemed addicted to marijuana.

Marijuana Addiction to Bath Salt Addiction

After living together for about a year, Tommy’s girlfriend brought home a new drug. She said that it was a lot like cocaine but lasted a lot longer. She said that the other really good thing about this drug was that it was legal. She said that it was labeled as plant food or bath salts at head shops and was not too expensive.

She gave some to Tommy and he did it. They both used it and got high for 24 hours. Then they went to sleep.

The next weekend they did it again. They had a really good time and instead of stopping at once, they continued to use it all weekend. Tommy stayed up for four days. Because of his girlfriend’s thyroid condition, she was able to go to sleep after being awake for twenty-four hours. Tommy, however, was not able to fall asleep. He was stayed awake and went on Face Book for days until he had to go back to work. While at work he used it again because he started to feel fatigued and wanted wake back up.

After a few days Tommy finally was able to go to bed and fall asleep. The only problem was that following weekend the couple ended up doing the same thing all over again. This time when they were using, Tommy began to notice that his girlfriend was using the stuff every ten minutes. He started to resent the fact that she might be doing more than he was. Every time she would use the drug, Tommy decided that he would use it to. He did not want her to get more than him. He had bought the stuff that time and it would just not be right for someone else to get to use more of the drugs that he paid for than he did. This did not turn out well for Tommy, however. Every time he used the drug, he was setting himself up to not be able to sleep for the next two days. His girlfriend’s body did not react to the drug the way most other people’s did. She had a thyroid condition that made it possible for her to sleep on any drug she used, no matter how powerful a stimulant it was. Tommy’s body was not set up like hers and the drug could keep him up for days and days at a time.

Bath Salt Addiction Takes Over Florida

After a while it seemed to Tommy that everyone he knew around where he lived was using the “bath salts”. Most of his friends at the factory were using them and most of the people in the trailer park where he lived were using them as well. Addiction to this stuff was really starting to take over the area where he lived.

The authorities in Florida also noticed that bath salts were starting to become overwhelmingly popular as well. After about a month of Tommy using the stuff, the main ingredient used to make people high was outlawed and the brand that he used was no longer available for sale in the state of Florida. Continued in part five

There are many ways that people use cocaine. The three main ways are as follows.

Snorting cocaine through the nose

Smoking cocaine in a free base or crack cocaine form

Injecting cocaine via a hypodermic needle

Probably the least addictive way of using cocaine is snorting the cocaine powder through the nose. The reason that this method is less addictive is because it takes longer to be absorbed through the bloodstream and the high that is achieved is longer and steadier and less intense. This is not to say that this method of ingestion is not addictive, it is, it is just a bit less addictive than the other methods.

Crack Cocaine

In the late seventies a surplus of pure cocaine was introduced into America. Before this time, most users would snort cocaine in powder form through their nose. Because of the surplus in the late seventies, there was a lot more pure cocaine available for a cheaper price. Dealers began to lose money. To rectify this problem, dealers began to manufacture crack cocaine. Before crack was invented, some people would smoke cocaine in a free base form. To turn cocaine into a free base form, people would have to use very flammable materials to create it. A chemist at some point came up with a way to turn cocaine into crack in a much safer way using water. When this happened the ability to manufacture smokable cocaine became much easier and safer for dealers to do.

Dealers began to sell crack and noticed that their profits increased. The reason for the increase in income was due to the fact that when smoked, crack created a much more intense rush in the user, but one that would wear off much more quickly. People would then desire more within a few minutes and would be back to the dealer to purchase it. It was also easier to sell small amounts, so people with less money were able to afford to buy it, thus opening up the market for more customers.

Crack Addiction

Crack addiction is one of the most overwhelming addictions that a person can suffer from. When someone uses crack cocaine the rush is instant. The high only last for a few minutes however, so the person will crave more usually within five to ten minute after the first initial dose. Once addicted, the person can get very desperate to get more crack cocaine. The person will sometimes search for more crack on the floor and anywhere else they may think they may have dropped some. The person may pick up any piece of white or yellowish substance that may resemble crack on the floor and put it into their mouth to see if it tastes like crack. The person can also suffer from paranoia and erratic behavior. This is probably usually due to lack a sleep and an insufficient amount of nutrients in their system. Crack is an appetite suppressant and also a stimulant so it causes the user to not sleep and also causes them to not eat. Signs of crack use and addiction are as follows.

Increased energy

Eye dilation

Paranoia

Agitation

Severe weight loss

Decreased appitite

Loss of focus on priorities

Lack of money

Erratic behavior

Muscle spasms

Tooth grinding

The person may become so desperate and their focus may become so centered on crack that they are willing to do anything to get more. They may sell all of their possessions and may even begin to sell their bodies to get more crack. There have been some instances where a parent was so desperate to get more crack that they have even sold their own children to pay for more.

Injecting Cocaine

Cocaine injection is similar to crack cocaine in the way that it affects the person and the degree of addiction that can result of using cocaine in this way. Both means of ingestion cause the cocaine to be absorbed into the bloodstream almost instantly. The biggest difference is that in an injection user, the person will usually have track marks, or little prick marks where they have stuck themselves with a needle.

Treatment for Cocaine Addiction

No matter what way a person is using cocaine, once addiction is established it is very important for a person to seek help for this problem right away. The longer the person is addicted to cocaine, the harder it will be for the person to get and stay clean. Long term treatment is usually recommended. Narconon rehab centers provide excellent care for those people who are suffering from any type of cocaine addiction. Narconon is a long term treatment that is non-traditional and individualized. Every time a person uses a drug, drug metabolites have the potential of being stored in the fatty tissue. These metabolites have can cause physical cravings in the person for years after the person quit using drugs. Every time the person gets stressed out or exercises or burns fat in any way there is a potential for the drug metabolites to be released back in the blood stream. These metabolites can travel back into the bloodstream and cause a very severe craving. This can cause the person to have a very hard time fighting these cravings, especially when they can happen constantly.

Narconon addresses this aspect of addiction through a regimen of vitamins and nutrition and sweating in a dry heat sauna. The way that this is done encourages the body to release all the stored drug metabolites, as well as other environmental toxins, from the fatty tissues. Most people who have done this have reported a dramatic decrease in cravings as well as increase in the ability to think clearly and make good decisions.

Once the person finishes this, the social and coping aspects of addiction are addressed in the remainder of the Narconon program. The Narconon program is one of the most successful rehabs in the world. Narconon has a seventy-six percent success rate.

Ecstasy is an ever increasingly popular drug used in the club scene, mostly by young adults and teenagers. There is a large amount of people that go to raves who begin to use ecstasy. Ecstasy (3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine) effects are similar to methamphetamine and mescaline. It increases serotonin in the brain and gives the user a sense of emotional empathy toward others and an increase of love for themselves. It also increases sensuality in some people and energy as well. However, all the effects of MDMA, or ecstasy are not good.

Dangers and Risks Associated with MDMA

Increase in body temperature

Dehydration

Hypertension

Heart failure

Kidney failure

Liver damage

Ecstasy has also been proven to cause brain damage. When regular users where tested for their cognitive skills, there results were significantly lower than those people who did not use ecstasy. It has been shown that there is an increase in brain damage every time a person uses ecstasy. Many people like to take more of the drug as the originally “high” is wearing off and this increases risk of brain damage.

Another very dangerous aspect of ecstasy use is the fact that the body temperature is increased and people have died from dehydration due to this increase in temperature. A very common problem that people can have is that they will take ecstasy and their inhibitions will be lowered and they will be in a state of feeling very safe and not worried about anything. Ecstasy has been shown to increase body temperature and increase stamina as well. The person may be at a rave, or club and be dancing and not notice the fact that they are getting dehydrated. The person will continue to dance because of their increased energy to do so and become very dehydrated. They may not notice enough to do anything about it and some people have died because of this fact. Increased body temperature in addition to dehydration can be very bad for a persons liver, kidneys, heart as well as all the other organs in the body.

Another fact is that when a person uses ecstasy, less blood is delivered to the brain. It also reduces the amount of serotonin that the brain produces after the person has used. This can cause the person to suffer from depression and brain fog once the person has quit using the drug. In a person who uses ecstasy heavily, these effects can last for up to months or even years after the person has quit using the drug. It is shown that once a person quits using ecstasy, their cognitive ability will increase and their depression will begin to get better.

Ecstasy Metabolites

One of the reasons that ecstasy may have such long term effects on person is because the metabolites from the drug can be stored in the fatty tissue. What this means for the person is that every time the person burns up their fatty tissue, if there is ecstasy metabolites stored in the tissues, these can go back into the brain and cause a reaction in the person. This can cause an increase in depression and a decrease in cognitive ability. Unless the person deals with this aspect of ecstasy use, there is not guarantee on how long the person will suffer from the problem.

Ecstasy Withdrawal

Ecstasy is not a drug that causes a physical dependence. This means when the person stops using it, they will not go through a physical withdrawal process. Most of the symptoms that a person will experience when coming off of ecstasy will be mental. They include the following

Depression

Insomnia

Difficulty Concentrating

Memory Loss

People who are coming off ecstasy may actually be coming off some other type of drug as well. They may not know this because MDMA is often mixed with other drugs that supposedly give the user similar effects, but these other drugs can cause other detox symptoms.

People who use MDMA on a regular basis can become addicted to it. This can be a very hard addiction to overcome. It is recommended for anyone who is suffering from an MDMA addiction to look for some type of support group or treatment center to help them through the rough time that they are facing. The person may also want to address the MDMA metabolite factor in their treatment as well.

Narconon Addresses Drug Metabolites

Narconon rehab is one of the only rehabs available at present that offers a solution to drug metabolites stored in the fatty tissue. Most drugs produce metabolites in the body that get stored in the fatty tissue. This can cause a problem for the person even years after the person has quit using drugs.

The reason that this can cause such a problem for the person is because it has been found that as long as these metabolites are stored in the persons fatty tissue, they are often effecting the persons mood and the way that they think. It can give the person physical cravings that they have no control over and that can be very hard for the person to fight against.

Narconon addresses this problem through the Narconon New Life Detoxification Program. Narconon uses a very specific regimen of vitamins, eating a healthy diet, exercise, sweating in a dry heat sauna and taking a specific blend of oils on a daily basis to help the person’s body rid itself naturally of the metabolites and other toxins that may be stored in the person’s fatty tissue.

Many people have reported that after they completed this portion of the Narconon program that a lot of the mental haziness that they experienced from using ecstasy and other drugs was eliminated. Many people also said that they physically felt much better and saw quite a dramatic decrease in their cravings.

Narconon also provides the person with the social tools that are needed to function in life without drugs once the person finishes the Narconon New Life Detox Program. Narconon has one of the high rates of success at helping people beat addiction at seventy six percent.

Part Two

Narconon has a unique approach to dealing with heroin, and any other opioid addiction. It is has proven to be very successful in helping people overcoming their addiction to heroin. The reason it is so successful is because Narconon is one of the only programs that permanently addresses the physical aspect that accompanies heroin and opioid addiction.

This is very important, because a person who has been addicted to opiates and or heroin feels so very terrible when they come off of the drugs. They often wonder if they will ever be able to feel good naturally again. With the Narconon program, in most cases, they are able to feel good and normal again without having to use opiates ever again.

Narconon Program Eliminates Cravings in Heroin Users

In addition to delivering an overall sense of well being back to the former opiate addict, the Narconon program reduces, and in most cases completely eliminates all physical cravings in the user. The reason for this is because the Narconon drug rehab utilizes a technique that aids the body in the elimination of all morphine metabolites.

In addition to aiding the body in the elimination of morphine metabolites, this Narconon technique also helps the body rid itself of other harmful toxins and metabolites that may be stored in the fatty tissues. It works for other drugs as well, including those that are physically addictive, as well as those that are not.

Narconon Uses a Regimen of Nutrition and Sweating to Detoxify the Body

The way that Narconon helps the body eliminate all the unwanted accumulated toxins is through a specific regimen of vitamins, mineral, nutrition, and sweating in a sauna. The way it works exactly is, the person wakes up in the morning and eats a nutritious breakfast. After the person is finished eating, they take a specific combination of vitamins and minerals. Included in these vitamins is a specific vitamin, B3, or Niacin.

Niacin acts as a blood detoxifier. There are two different types of Niacin. There is niacinimide, which is known as flush free niacin, and Nicotinic Acid which causes the skin to flush. Narconon uses the Nicotinic Acid, or flushing version of niacin. The reason for this is because after a while a person gets to taking pretty large doses of Niacin during the detox program. The Nicotinic Acid form of niacin is safe in large doses, while niacinimide has been proven to cause liver damage in some people.

When a person flushes from taking nicotinic acid, it is actually a sign of the body flushing out harmful toxins from the blood. In the Narconon detoxification program, the person excersises after taking the niacin to ensure that the niacin reaches deep into the tissues, including the fatty tissue. Once the toxins are pulled out of the tissues and into the blood stream, (noted by the flushing) the person then enters a dry heat sauna. They then drink copious amounts of water to encourage sweating and hydration. One of the major ways that the body has to release toxins is through the sweat glands. The person begins to literally sweat out the heroin residuals that have been trapped in their body for months or in some cases years.

The Narconon Detoxifying Program is Different for Each Individual

Every person has different reactions while sweating out the toxins in their bodies. Some people actually get a high while others just feel a bit hazy and perhaps emotional. Some people get very emotional while sweating out the toxins. They may have sudden outbursts of anger or sadness. These usually go away as quickly as they come on, actually often leaving the person in a remarkably better mood.

If a person has worked in a field where they are exposed to a lot of chemicals, their sweat may actually smell of these chemicals as they are leaving the persons body. Other people are often quite able to smell these toxins coming out. It is quite remarkable.

After the person has finished sweating in the sauna for the day, they then get out and take a specific blend of oils. These oils are to replace the fat that the person lost trough their sweat that day. The reason for this is so that the person’s body will continue to release toxic fatty substance through the person’s sweat glands. If the fat is not replaced, it will actually serve to slow down the person’s metabolic rate, and in turn make them gain weight.

In the evenings for dinner, and for lunch as well, it is strongly recommended that the person try to eat as many servings of fresh vegetables as they can. The reason for this is it provides the body certain nutrition that can only be found in fresh vegetables. The better that the addict feeds his or her body with healthy nutrients, the faster the person is going to be able to feel well again. The human body has an amazing capacity for peak performance and endurance and healing itself, but the fuel that it is given to operate should be of the most nutritious value. The person will feel much healthier and happier just from eating better.

Upon Completion Ex-Addicts Feel Great

Once the person has finished the detoxifying program that Narconon offers, the person who was addicted heroin often feels extremely better physically than they did in the beginning. Their chronic withdrawal symptoms are gone, and so is the cloud that that may have been fogging up their mind due to the toxins in their bodies. Many of the recovering addicts say that their vision and perception of colors actually improve; stating colors look brighter and more vibrant. They say that their ability of assessing situations accurately is greatly improved as well and they realize they had made many mistakes because the drugs that had been stored in their bodies had altered their judgment. They say that they feel much more ready to face the mental and emotional issues that have gone along with their addiction for so long. They say their overall sense of well being is also greatly improved and for the first time in a long time they have the ability to feel happiness naturally again. They are no longer in a constant state of withdraw. When the person then follows with the remainder of the program and completes it, which focuses on mental and emotional aspects of the addiction, they stand a seventy- six percent chance of staying clean.

GHB is often used as a date rape drug and there has recently been an increase of rapes where the attackers gave the drug to the female victims before the incidents. Most of the victims, whether they had been drinking alcohol at the time or not, had no recollection of the attacks.

GHB was originally used by body builders because it reportedly helps increase muscle growth and fat burning abilities in the body. The use of GHB was then increased for its sedative properties. It is a very popular rave drug and is now used as a date rape drug as well. GHB has also been approved by the FDA for certain sleep aiding medication, buts its use for these is very regulated.

The Effects of GHB

GHB has the potential to effect every person in a different manner. The effects of this drug are often compared to those of ecstasy or alcohol. People have reported feelings of lowered inhibitions, enhanced sensuality and euphoria. Some of the negative effects of GHB are as follows.

Nausea

Drowsiness

Dizziness

Agitation

Hallucinations

Visual Disturbances

Depressed Breathing

Amnesia (which is why it is used as a date rape drug)

Death

Many club kids like to use GHB because it lowers their inhibitions and increases their sensuality while they are dancing. One of the main problems with GHB is it is very physically addictive. People can become physically dependent on GHB even if they have not used it but for a very short period of time. Once the person becomes physically dependent on this drug it is very hard to get off. It can actually be physically dangerous for a person who is physically addicted to GHB to stop using it cold turkey. It is highly recommended for any person who is struggling with an addiction to GHB to seek medical advice and treatment before trying to get off of the drug by themselves. Some of the withdrawal symptoms that someone experiences while coming off of GHB can be somewhat similar to those of a person who is physically addicted to alcohol or benzodiazepines. The list of physical withdrawal symptoms are as follows.

Tremors

Profuse sweating

Nausea and or vomiting

Increased heart rate

Increased blood pressure

Hallucinations

Delirium or psychosis

In addition to the immediate withdrawal symptoms, the person may also suffer from delayed withdrawal symptoms later on after they have been off of the drug for a while. The delayed symptoms often include extreme mental clouding or fuzziness, confusion, paranoia and extreme anxiety.

Treatment for GHB Withdrawal

In some situations doctors who attend GHB withdrawal choose to use a mix of benzodiazepines to help wean a person off of GHB. This can be a bit of a slow process. It is very important that the person who is suffering from the addiction go to a detox center or to a doctor who has dealt with GHB withdrawal before. If not, it can be very dangerous. There have been cases reported where a person tried to detox of GHB without medical assistance and they have died.

For a while it was thought that GHB was not that harmful of a drug, but it has come to light that it actually is. For a while it was thought that it was not all that addictive, but after many cases that have shown otherwise, it is found that GHB is a very addictive substance. It is recommended that after a person goes through GHB withdrawal that they follow up with a long term treatment such as Narconon. There are many Narconon long term drug rehab centers located all over the world. Narconon has a very unique program that is very effective in treating GHB addiction. One of the reasons that Narconon has had a good success rate with treating GHB addiction is because of the Narconon detox program.

GHB Metabolites

Some of the metabolites of the drug can be stored in the fatty tissues for years after a person has quit using and these metabolites can continue to affect the way the person feels for quite some time after the person has quit using. This may be one of the reasons why the person may suffer from withdrawal symptoms after they have been not using for a while. Narconon is one of the only programs that address this aspect of GHB addiction through the Narconon detox program. The Narconon detox program is a program that uses a regimen of sweating in a dry heat sauna with excersise and vitamins to help the body rid itself of accumulated drug metabolites and other toxins that are often stored in the fatty tissue, in an accelerated amount of time. This has been shown to help many individuals overcome physical cravings, as well as reduce the after effects on the mind quite a bit. Many recovering addicts have stated that after they finished the Narconon detox program they felt much more clear headed and back to the way they did before they ever used drugs.

Social Factors

After the recovering addict finishes the Narconon detox program, they then learn the tools that are needed to live their lives drug free. They learn how to interact socially with other people without having to use drugs to feel confidence in themselves and they also learn the value of ethics in a persons life who would like to be successful.

Narconon is a non-traditional program that is individualized. Narconon is a long term treatment center, which is the recommendation for people coming off of GHB. Narconon has a seventy-six percent success rate. If you or a loved one are suffering from addiction to GHB, please contact your local Narconon Center right away and get the help that is needed for this terrible addiction.

Norfolk, like the rest of the country, has drug abuse problems. Opiate abuse is rising. Same story – different city. However, Norfolk District Attorney is is taking a new approach – education through cable television. He wants to include parents in the education process, which is exactly the right thing to do. Studies show that parents do have an effect on their kids when it comes to drug abuse. Some of them just don’t know what to say – they don’t know enough about the problem to realistically talk to their kids about it.

The television shows are a good start. Extending the education into the schools and churches is a must also. The voice of education has to be louder than the influences that are causing are kids to get caught up with drugs in the first place. Here is the article:

“Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey will launch a series of cable access shows that discuss drug abuse and how parents can talk with their kids about opiate use.

“The primary focus of our office has to be aggressively prosecuting crimes committed in our communities. But a small investment in education can lead to preventing many senseless crimes that not only cause a great deal of suffering, but are very costly to the taxpayers,” Morrissey said.

The shows will discuss consequences of drug use, bad teenage decision making, and other societal issues aimed to educate parents and the general public.

Morrissey’s first show discusses prescription drug abuse of medications like Oxycontin. Opiate overdose deaths are the leading cause of accidental death in the U.S., according to the D.A.

“Parents are key to stopping this from consuming their children, but parents need information to be effective,” he said in a statement.

Morrissey’s first half-hour seminar features three speakers with different expertise: Harvard Medical School professor and Massachusetts General Hospital Dr. John Kelly; North Quincy High School nurse Kristen Houlihan; and Lyn Frano, an anti-opiate advocate.

“Prosecuting drug trafficking after those drugs have ruined lives, or taken lives, is important, but it is not the only answer,” Morrissey said. “Our communities need to fight opiate addiction before it consumes the next generation, and parents taking advantage of the education and assistance available to them, and experts like these, is an important part of that.”

Narconon has provided effective drug education for decades and our curriculum is available for those who ask.

For those who are already addicted, Narconon drug rehab is one of the most effective solutions available.
