The Sauna Exercise
Program
The purpose of the
Sauna/Exercise program is to purge the body of these drug residues, thus
greatly reducing or completely removing cravings. This is accomplished through
an exact regimen that consists of the following:
A. Exercise,
preferably running, to stimulate circulation.
B. Prescribed
periods in a low heat sauna to promote sweating.
C. An exact regimen
of vitamin, mineral and oil intake.
D. Sufficient
liquids to offset the loss of body fluids through sweating.
E. Regular diet
supplemented with plenty of fresh vegetables.
F. A properly
ordered personal schedule, which provides the person with the normally required
amount of sleep.

How the Program resolves Drug
Cravings
While drugs and their
metabolites quickly become undetectable in blood and urine, some as rapidly as
3 days after last usage, drug metabolites remain stored in fatty tissues for
years. The accumulated drug residues which continue to cause drug cravings, a
factor in relapse, led researchers to develop a program aimed at reducing
levels of toxins in the body to assist in recovery. |

I am more awake and aware than I can
remember in a long time. My body seems to be telling me that it is ready to
operate at an optimal level as long as I take care of it correctly. I
notice that my senses are heightened and my overall communication between mind
and body is better. My body and mind are directly in touch with each other,
without any blocks or vias to go through. Mentally I feel a sense of well-being
and an overall vigor for life. I am excited to learn and improve. My irrational
fear of the future of the unfamiliar has greatly decreased and even turned to
curiosity. I feel excited and ready to move forward in life. I have confidence
that I can continue to improve myself and my decision making process. I finally
feel as though I can use the hard facts of my past experiences to confront
situation in the present instead of just dwelling on emotions from these
experiences. - AR |

Thanks to sauna I
got rid of drugs and toxins in my body, yet at the same time, I've gained so
much more important things for my body, mind and spirit. Before I started
sauna, I was feeling like crap mentally and physically. My mind soon cleared
and body soon healed. The first day of sauna, I decided to quite
smoking cigarettes and I succeeded. It's been 16 days since my last cigarette.
I feel great having done so I've gained love for myself and my body. I recently
got in touch with my spirituality and my relationship with God. That is
something I thought I had lost forever. Everything is so clear, like
what I want from myself and what I want to get out of my life. It is amazing
all the possibilities and opportunities I have now that I am drug free! I can
choose what I want with my heart again. I have my soul back. I have ME
back. I know who I am and what I am capable of doing. I am comfortable
with ME. My motivation is my future life, my family, my support and my
sobriety but most of all, my new self. Sauna has changed me in everyway!
Actually, I've changed my way of thinking, bottom line. I've never
felt better about myself, my past, my future and everything in between. I'm
excited about what lies ahead in this program and what awaits me in the near
future. I know I want to help other addicts and alcoholics the way I'm being
helped. It's already in my nature and I will give it my all and give this
program all I've got.-HT |

| Handling the
Biochemical Side of Addiction |
When drugs enter
the body they substitute for some of the body's reward system. The body
immediately identifies the drugs as toxic. The body has to eliminate these
toxins. Drugs and alcohol are broken down in the liver in a process called
metabolization, the byproducts of which are called metabolites (the substances
the body converts the drugs or alcohol into). Although removed rapidly from the
bloodstream some metabolites become trapped in the fatty tissues. There are
various types of tissues that are high in fat content. The problem that needs
to be addressed is that these drug residues remain trapped in these tissues for
years. Tissues in our bodies that are high in fats are turned over very slowly.
The body will metabolize and burn fat any time a person undergoes an experience
that causes the heart rate to speed up. Stress can do this, as can strenuous
exercise, anger, or intense emotion. We all experience these things on a fairly
regular basis. When an addict experiences these situations and their heart rate
speeds, up the body begins to mobilize and burn fat. The fat contains toxins or
metabolites from past alcohol and drug use.
 |
 |
As the fat cells
burn they release the metabolites back into the person?s bloodstream. The
metabolite acts as a physical and mental reminder of the drug or alcohol
consumption. In short, when the stored drug metabolites are released into the
bloodstream they can make the person feel as if the they actually took the
drug. The former addict now experiences a drug restimulation (or flashbacks)
and drug craving. This is common in the months after an addict quits and can
continue for several years.

 |
| The graph depicts
cocaine metabolites being excreted in the sweat and urine of clients
participating in the Narconon® Sauna Exercise Program. Levels of drug
metabolites are not detectable in clients prior to the start of this program,
then increase dramatically and slowly taper off as the program is continued.
This supports the argument that drug residues remain in the fatty tissues and
that the correct treatment can mobilize and remove them through the body?s
excretory systems. |
The Narconon
Sauna/Exercise program has resulted in astonishing improvements in students who
consistently report:
- Ability to think
more clearly.
- Improved memory
and attention span.
- Greater
energy.
- Increased
awareness of surroundings.
- Increased feeling
of general well being.
- Reduction or
elimination of many symptoms associated with drug addiction, including
depression, irritability and fatigue.
- Enthusiasm towards
life.
